It was formerly included in the "Old World warbler" assemblage.It is found in Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, North Korea, South Korea, Laos, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, Philippines, Russia, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam.
