Heteromeles arbutifolia (/ˌhɛtᵻroʊˈmiːliːz ɑːrˌbjuːtᵻˈfoʊliə/; more commonly /ˌhɛtəˈrɒməliːz/ by Californian botanists), commonly known as toyon, is a common perennial shrub native to extreme southwest Oregon, California and Baja California. It is the sole species in the genus Heteromeles.
