This open woodland is dominated by Pinus palustris with Quercus laevis, Quercus incana, Quercus geminata, and Quercus margarettiae in the subcanopy/shrub layer; it is found in the Florida Panhandle and adjacent and southern Alabama on xeric, sandy soils with a slightly higher fine particle composition in the surface soils, and higher species richness than other Florida sandhill types.
