Description:This Appalachian-Northeastern group is found in basins or along rivers and streams in areas of low current where soils are saturated or flooded with shallow water for part to most of the growing season and the vegetation is dominated by short to medium-tall forbs, graminoids and short to medium-tall shrubs. Sites are flooded or saturated for most of the growing season, and soils tend to be fine-textured with muck or sedge peat.
