The velvet-browed brilliant (Heliodoxa xanthogonys) is a species of hummingbird in the Trochilidae family.The species is found in Venezuela, central regions, mostly east of the Orinoco River, and in the east with Guyana, and in the small border region of Brazil, intersecting with Guyana and Venezuela. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist montane forests and subtropical or tropical high-altitude shrubland.
