Wikipedia Abstract

Vatica rassak is a species of plant in the Dipterocarpaceae family. It is a tree found in Indonesia, Buru, Papua New Guinea, and the Philippines. Vaticanol C, a resveratrol tetramer isolated from V. rassak bark, inhibits cell growth through induction of apoptosis in human colon cancer cell lines. A newly discovered, unnamed special caterpillar makes use of the poisonous resin from this tree to build a cocoon.
