Alafia caudata grows as a climbing shrub or liana. Its fragrant flowers feature a white or yellowish corolla. Fruit is grey with paired follicles, each up to 36 centimetres (14 in) long. Habitat is mixed forest. A. caudata is found in Cameroon, Central African Republic, Gabon, Republic of Congo, Democratic Republic of Congo, Kenya, Tanzania, Angola, Mozambique and Zimbabwe.
