Paphiopedilum insigne is a species of orchid endemic to the Indian states of Assam and Meghalaya and the Myanmar states of Kachin,Shan and kayar.It is known as (Ngwe nar phyu) in Myanmar. It is the type species of the genus Paphiopedilum.
