It breeds in Argentina, Chile and the Falkland Islands with southern birds migrating north as far as Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay and possibly Peru. It is 11-13 centimeters (4.5–5 in) in length. It is glossy blue-black above and white below with a white rump. It is similar to the white-rumped swallow but lacks the white forehead (not always reliable) of that species and has bluer upperparts and grey underwing-coverts. |
