Animalia > Chordata > Aves > Passeriformes > Thraupidae > Oreothraupis > Oreothraupis arremonopsOreothraupis arremonops (Tanager Finch)Synonyms: Saltator arremonops The tanager finch (Oreothraupis arremonops) is a songbird species. In the recent past usually placed in the Emberizidae (bunting and American sparrow) family, it actually seems to be, as its common name implies, a kind of tanager (Thraupidae). But its precise affinities are unclear. It is placed in the monotypic genus Oreothraupis. It is found in Colombia and Ecuador. Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical moist montane forests. It is threatened by habitat loss. |
