It is found in Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Paraguay, Peru, and Uruguay.Its natural habitats are swamps and freshwater lakes. \n* Adult swimming in a pond in central Chile. \n* A juvenile in central Chile.
