The pygmy batis is a small insectivorous bird which finds its food foraging among leaves although it will also sometimes catch insects on the wing. The plumage is black and white but the female has an orange eye and a reddish-brown breast band. It has a shorter tail than the chinspot batis, Batis molitor, and an inconspicuous white stripe above its orange-tinged eye. |
