The pavonine quetzal (Pharomachrus pavoninus) is a species of bird in the family Trogonidae, the trogons. It is found in the Amazon basin of the North Region, Brazil, Amazonian Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and northern Bolivia; also regions of Venezuela. Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests.
