Wikipedia Abstract

Cicindela puritana, commonly referred to as the Puritan tiger beetle, is a federally listed threatened species of beetle in the United States. It is native to Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Vermont; it is now extirpated from the latter two states. Today it occurs along the Chesapeake Bay, an area near the Sassafras River, and a small stretch of land along the Connecticut River. There are two occurrences on the Connecticut River, and about nine populations in Maryland.
