The blue-throated bee-eater (Merops viridis) is a species of bird in the Meropidae family.It is found in Brunei, Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam.Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical mangrove forests. Subspecies M. v. americanus of The Philippines is sometimes considered a distinct species, the rufous-crowned bee-eater, M. americanus.
