Trichuris serrata, commonly known as a whipworm, is a nematode of the Trichuris genus first discovered in domestic Brazilian cats by Dr. Otto Friedrich Bernhard von Linstow in 1879. Since then, there have been reports of this species in North and South America, Australia, and the Caribbean islands.
