It is found in Afghanistan, China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, India, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. Its natural habitat is temperate forests. It is usually classified as a subspecies of the azure tit.
