Heliotrygon gomesi, the Gomes's round ray or China ray, is a freshwater stingray species native to Brazil, the type species of its genus. Some of the features of Heliotrygon include its disc proportions (a disc that is very circular and anteriorly convex), the extreme subdivision of its suborbital canal, a triangular pelvic girdle, a reduced caudal sting, a basibranchial copula with a thin and acute anterior extension, as well as precerebral and frontoparietal fontanellae of approximately equal width.
