Dyspessa ulula is a species of moth of the Cossidae family. It is found from central and southern Europe through Russia to central Asia. It is also found in Syria, Iran, Iraq and parts of North Africa. The wingspan is 18–25 mm for females and 19–26 mm for males. The colour of the forewings varies from yellowish grey to yellowish brown. Adults are mainly on wing from April to July. The larvae feed on Allium species, including Allium flavum, Allium vienale, Allium spaerocephalon and Allium sativum. They live within the onion. Development of the larvae takes multiple years.
