Wikipedia Abstract

Hippotion griveaudi is a moth of the family Sphingidae. It is known from Madagascar. It is similar to Hippotion batschi, but distinguishable by the narrow white dorsal line on the abdomen. The upperside of the thorax and abdomen has a narrow white dorsal line. The forewing upperside is dark purplish-brown. The first and second postmedian lines are very narrow but discernible, the fourth and fifth lines are shaded in dark brown and highlighted in pale purplish-grey along the basal edge.
