The rosy gypsy moth (Lymantria mathura) is a species of moth of the Lymantriidae family found in the Russian Far East, Nepal, Japan (Hokkaido, Honshu, Kyushu), the Korean Peninsula, northern India and China (at least Hebei, Heilongjiang, Jilin also in the west). The wingspan is 40–50 mm for males and 70–90 mm for females. Larvae have been recorded feeding on Terminalia, Shorea, Quercus, Mangifera, Eugenia and Mitragyna. It is considered a pest, since it is a major defoliator of deciduous trees.
