Adenanthera is a genus of flowering plants in the legume family, Fabaceae. It grows in the northeast of Brazil. In some places is called Piriquiti. It has a brightly colored red seeds, which are poisonous if ingested raw. Beautiful shiny seeds in northeastern Brazil are used to make necklaces and other handicrafts.
