Felis margarita thinobia, known as the Turkestan sand cat, is a subspecies of the sand cat native to the Transcaspian region. It occurs in the Karakum and Kyzylkum deserts to the east of the Caspian Sea and north of the Kopet Dag mountains up to the Syr Darya river.
