Description:This woodland and savanna group is centered on the Columbia Plateau and extends from the eastern foothills of the Cascades and the Modoc Plateau across the northern margin of the Great Basin and is characterized by an open to closed canopy of Juniperus occidentalis that is sometime codominated by Cercocarpus ledifolius and typically has a shrubby understory dominated by Artemisia tridentata.
