Pelanomodon

Wikipedia Abstract

Pelanomodon is an extinct genus of dicynodont therapsid. Two species were previously recognized: P. rubidgei, with pair of very large nasal bosses on its snout, while the bosses of P. moschops are smaller. P. rubidgei and P. moschops may represent sexual morphs of the same species. If this is the case, P. moschops would have precedence because it was named first. Subsequent study of tuskless geikiid dicynodonts confirmed this possibility, and P. rubidgei, Propelanomodon, and Geikia locusticeps were synonymized with P. moschops.
