Eophrynids lived during the Carboniferous period in what is now modern Europe and North America.The family is probably found within the 'eophrynid assemblage' clade; (Aphantomartus (Alkenia (Pseudokreischeria (Kreischeria (Eophrynus + Pleophrynus))))).
