Wikipedia Abstract

Pontolis was a large species of pinniped closely related to a modern-day walrus. It contained only the single species Pontolis magnus. An amphibious carnivore, it was found in formerly marine or coastal areas in what is now California and Oregon, dating between 11.608 and 5.332 million years ago, during the Miocene and Pliocene.
