Dystebenna

Wikipedia Abstract

Dystebenna is a genus of moths of the Elachistidae family. It contains only one species Dystebenna stephensi, which is found in central Europe, Great Britain, southern Sweden, the Crimea and western Transcaucasia. The wingspan is 8–9 mm. Adults are on wing from the end of June to the beginning of September in one generation per year. The larvae feed on Quercus and Castanea species. They feed within the bark of their host plant. They prefer mature trees. Pupation takes place in the bark mine. The species overwinters in the pupal stage.
