The genus includes more than 40 species distributed mainly over mountainous regions of southeastern Asia, from the Himalayas andChina to the Sunda Isles; however, three species are known from New Guinea (Baehr 2007) and one from Australia (Baehr 2004). Chydaeus queenslandicus is a species of beetle in the family Carabidae, the only species in the genus in Australia. Chydaeus.
