Tapena is a monotypic genus of skippers in the family Hesperiidae subfamily Pyrginae. The single species is Tapena thwaitesi, the black angle. The species is named after G. H. K. Thwaites, the director of the botanical garden at Peradeniya, Sri Lanka between 1849 and 1880.
