Latridae is a family (about 5 species) of perciform fishes known as the Trumpeters. They are found in southern waters off Australia, New Zealand, and Chile, where they are fished commercially and for sport. They are closely related to Cheilodactylidae, and the majority of the species traditionally placed in that family have been re-assigned to Latridae based on DNA analysis, with the kelpfish and marblefish the closest relatives of Latridae.
