Sematophyllaceae is a family of mosses. It includes 40 genera with a total of about 150 species. They occur nearly worldwide, especially in tropical and temperate regions. These mosses are known commonly as signal mosses. These species form yellow to yellow-green mats with reddish stems. They grow on rocks in wet or humid places.
