Wasmannia is a genus of ants that are social, native to tropical habitats, and haplodiploid, with the reproductive castes (queens and drones) haploid, and the worker caste diploid. Wasmannia auropunctata is known as the electric ant or little fire ant and are considered by many countries to be a destructive, highly invasive species.
