Amauris hecate (dusky danaid, scarce monk or black friar) is a species of butterfly of the Nymphalidae family. It is found in Africa, from Guinea and Liberia to Ghana, Cameroun, Angola, Zaire, Uganda, Southern Sudan and Western Kenya and Southern Ethiopia.
