Macroprotodon is a genus of snakes in the Colubridae family. All of the members of the genus are commonly known as false smooth snakes.It contains these species: \n* M. abubakeri \n* M. brevis - western false smooth snake \n* M. cucullatus - false smooth snake \n* M. mauritanicus Some authorities consider some of these species to be subspecies of the other species.
